Gunter Stern


GUNTER STERN studied at Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, N.Y. and Mexico City College in Mexico.  Additionally, he received a scholarship to the Brooklyn Museum Art School. His paintings are held in private collections as well as displayed in public exhibitions. He has been the recipient of numerous awards. His public exhibitions include galleries and museums such as the Heckscher Museum, Parrish Art Musuem, Islip Museum and the Nassau County Museum of Fine Arts. He is listed in the Catalog of American Portraits at the Smithsonian National Portrait Gallery in their Research Archive. His primary medias are oils, acrylics, and enamels. Many of his early works in his "Grisaille Paintings" are mixed with sand, imbuing the surface with a tactile texture.
